For the month of August we are giving to the Boys & Girls Club of Michigan City.
General Insurance Services has decided to help employees give back to the community by allowing them to wear blue jeans on each Friday of the month of August. Each month the GIS Board of Directors selects a charity to donate to. If an employee chooses to wear jeans on Friday, they are asked to donate to the charity.
Currently the Boys & Girls Club of Michigan City supports and guides more than 400 kids every year through after school and summer programs. The membership fee is $5 a year and is open to all youth ages 6 – 18. The Michigan City chapter was founded in 1997 as a charter of the Boys & Girls Clubs of America. We are a non-profit organization that relies on community support, individual donations, and grants to continue our mission. We bring a wide variety of youth together to grow and serve the community. Members learn to plant, care for, harvest, and give back by sharing the produce with the association and Club families. It is projects like this that helps members gain positive life skills including working as a team, physical fitness, good nutrition, and concern for the environment.
